PREPPING YOUR HOME FOR SALE

Nations Investments’ Blog

As a Real Estate Brokerage Firm, we have seen the cyclical and roller coaster of the industry!

Knowledge Is Power”

You have made the decision to sell your home and call in a Realtor to help you with this monumental task. You are so excited that you are actually waiting outside when they arrive to meet with you for the first time, and then it happens … Even though you know they are trying to be polite you see them when they wrinkle up their nose at the first sight of your home and property! It is at that point that you realize you have a long way to go before you can actually put your home on the Market. Here are a few things you may need to attend to make your place look its best!

  • Address Repairs – Undoubtedly there will be some that are blatantly obvious and others that are not so much so. In fact, you may want to contact an Electrician and Plumber to do an inspection to ensure that everything is ship shape. It may also be wise to share these reports with prospective buyers so that they can be assured that you are not trying to hide anything.
  • Create Curb Appeal – Since your home will never have a second chance for a First Impression, it is vitally important that the yard is both immaculate and awe inspiring.
  • Declutter – If you take a look around you will find that there is a whole lot in your home that others will not find interesting or even perhaps necessary. When selling your home you must remember that people want to envision their stuff in your home, and, as a result, you must remove as much of yours as possible. If you can’t part with every-thing right away, it would, undoubtedly, behoove you to rent a storage unit until your home is sold.
  • Paint – This is not the time to be bold and creative! Studies have shown that when you paint the interior of you home for sale it is best to go with a neutral color!
  • Stage Your Home – Start with a “Blank Canvas” by removing the majority of your own personal belongings. Replace them with stylish, unique items that show off the size and brightness of your rooms.
  • Take Time to Really Clean – A “Deep Cleaning” before your home is viewed is virtually mandatory! Again, you will want people to feel good about what they see at your home!

There you have it … a half-dozen steps to make sure your home will be irresistible and provide you with at least one person ready to enjoy it as much as you did!
